Women’s Health

I walked by the abortion clinic
Yesterday. I saw her go in, swollen
With the infection of responsibility and consequence.
She walked out the door half herself and sick.
The clinic made her sicker.
They tell them they are whole and free again. 
They lie.
She's still sick. I know it.
She's still sick with selfishness,
Maybe fear or shame too, or both.
They made her sicker with murder.
She may experience side effects of guilt,
Terminally. They will never tell her
It's a side-effect of the procedure.
When a man is rescued from drowning
You check his pulse
To see if he's alive.
No pulse. Dead. With pulse. Alive.
The human heart begins to beat
Eighteen days after conception. 
Would you remove support of life
From a viable patient?
And what is more viable
Than a brand-new baby?
I saw her by my house today.
She was a fourth of herself, not herself.
I think the clinic removed her heart too.
No pulse. No life___________________
It was assisted homi-suicide--duicide--
And it's legal.
This is the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave
For Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness,
Or supposedly.

Day 39

Also on your skirts is found
    the lifeblood of the guiltless poor;
you did not find them breaking in.
    Yet in spite of all these things
35 you say, ‘I am innocent;
    surely his anger has turned from me.’
Behold, I will bring you to judgment
    for saying, ‘I have not sinned’ (Jeremiah 2:34-35).

A child’s unique DNA is present at conception. NASA’s latest Mars rover, Perseverance, will “look for signs of past microbial life.” Now if DNA is found on Mars, you know it will be called life, let alone something less than actual DNA. Yet we can’t recognize life for what it is right in front of us on our own planet during our present! Please, let us awaken to the atrocities going on around us in silence. The German citizens were appalled to learn concentration camps were in their own backyard. Is this much different? In the past, men of the United States justified the enslavement and obliteration of men, women, and children by rationalizing their dehumanization. We have rationalized the dehumanization of the unborn. Abortions are committed in the name of women’s health, but the procedure does not even extract a bodily member of the woman, but of another altogether, indeed another’s whole body, be it whole on in pieces. More females are aborted than males. How is this “women’s health”? More black children are aborted than any other demographic. How can we say that black lives matter? To terminate life support of a viable patient is to go against the Hippocratic oath. Such doctors must have taken the Hypocritic oath instead. We proclaim life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, except to those who we suspect would inhibit our own, and so we kill them before they can be protected legal citizens. One of the largest deceptions in our world is pro-choice. Having the ability to choose does not make the decision okay. God gave Adam and Eve the ability to choose and Eve was deceived (Genesis 3:13). Is this really a baby yet? “You will not die, you will be like God,” said Satan (3:4-5). You are not killing a baby. You can move on without consequences and live your life how you want.

Adam and Eve made their choice, and they had consequences, very serious consequences that affected the rest of their lives and, well, I need not explain its effect on others. What so many women don’t know is that abortion leaves a permanent scar on the heart. This is not what they are told before the procedure, just as much as Satan failed to tell Eve that though she would not die that day in body, she would die in spirit.

But for all those women who made the wrong choice, I thank God that Jesus said on the cross, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34). But He knew what He would do. And we are already forgiven if we believe and repent. Thank you, Jesus.

She published her first book, Learning to Love: a Collection of Poetry and 40 Daily Devotions, in 2021. The daughter of a choir director and college music teacher with an MA in voice, Sara was regularly exposed to music from an early age. Although she is a far cry from the vocal qualifications of her mother, and although she is not nearly as proficient a pianist as she should be from her tutelage, Sara has maintained her musical background by expressing herself through acoustic and classical guitar and the Native American style flute, composing many of her own songs. Besides writing and music, one of Sara’s favorite work experiences was as assistant curator of the Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida where she got to accession people’s old stuff and guide tours about it. They just don’t make things like they used to.
