Do Not Cover What Is Seen

Do not cover what is seen
Or deny what is true.
Don't reject the work of God,
Even if that is you.
You are a child of Abraham,
One ruled by Christ on High
As sure as the sun's daily course,
The stars fixed in the sky.
If you cover what is seen
And deny what is true,
You not only reject yourself,
But you reject God too.
You call the complete pot broken,
The Potter a failure.
You call the day night, night the day.
"There's no law to nature."
The sun still rises each morning.
The pot's a useful tool.
You can't reverse the natural course.
You'll just look like a fool.
God has dipped you in His glaze,
Tempered you in His fire.
If you say that is not His plan,
You act like a liar.
Christ has died, risen again,
And said you are His lamb.
He said His Spirit lives in you.
You're in the Great I Am.

Day 22

“Have you not observed that these people are saying, ‘The Lord has rejected the two clans that he chose’? Thus they have despised my people so that they are no longer a nation in their sight. Thus says the Lord: If I have not established my covenant with day and night and the fixed order of heaven and earth, then I will reject the offspring of Jacob and David my servant and will not choose one of his offspring to rule over the offspring of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will restore their fortunes and will have mercy on them” (Jeremiah 33:24-26).

There are plenty of times when I feel like God should give up on me, and He certainly has that right. If the day came when He decided to play that card and call in His debts, I’d day, “Yep, You have the right. No complaints here. That’s what I deserve.” But really, the problem is not that God may give up on me one day after I’ve made too many mistakes, but that I’m much readier to give up on myself. I’m so thankful that God is the Author and Perfector of my faith (Hebrews 12:2, American Standard Version), because I can’t even finish painting the bedroom. I like the more modern translations for this verse. The King James says He is the Finisher, but He could be technically finished with me before He could make me perfect. But He will not be finished with us until we are perfect, and that’s comforting to me. He will not throw in the towel early. O thank You, Jesus. Thank You, Jesus!
